Summer 2005 Geology Field Trip - SD Section, AIPG

The SD Section of AIPG is hosting a geology field trip in eastern South Dakota led by Jay Gilbertson (Director of the East Dakota Water Development District) next month.  You, your family, friends and colleagues are invited to attend.  The trip will depart from, and return to, Milbank, SD on Saturday, August 6, 2005.

 

For those arriving in Milbank on Friday afternoon/evening (August 5, 2005), the event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Super 8 Motel on East Highway 12 in Milbank, SD with a presentation of the following day’s trip.  The field trip will depart at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 6, 2005 from the lobby of the Super 8 and will include a tour of the Pleistocene geology of northeastern South Dakota, mainly in Grant County.  It will also include a tour of the Milbank granite quarries.  Fossil collection is allowable in certain areas.

The following three motels are listed for your convenience.  As indicated above, the field trip will be based out of the Super 8.
